Do you have a child that shows a special interest in science or mathematics, is under stimulated or simply forever asking why? Perhaps your child has obvious intelligence but does not measure up on assessment, is disruptive or finds particular areas of learning difficult. Or simply seeks more than is possible from their current schooling environment. If so you probably have a child that has a lot to offer the world in which we live.
Lifted Learning is about meeting the particular and special needs of these children by providing a range of education opportunities and intervention services to lift their education.
Founding Principles:
- Extension opportunities should be available both within and outside of the school day to young people presented by highly qualified people who demonstrate a deep understanding of the subject and posses an ability to explain and inspire. The interest of the child should be the major determinant of entrance in to extension programs.
- Young people want authentic and experiential learning that enrich their understanding and imagination.
- Learning environments must reflect real life, be open and built on mutual understanding and respect. Moral and psychological development is an essential component of learning.
- Early identification and expert intervention of reading and writing learning deficits should be aggressively pursued.
- Teachers should act and present themselves professionally and conduct themselves in a manner that is worthy of the respect of the young people they have an opportunity to shape.
